The City of ZAGREB is presented by 149 Black & White photographs by photographer Luka Mjeda in a 264 page monograph. Published in 2021 by HFC.
Not surprisingly, Mjeda´s Zagreb is black and white. For, however paradoxical it might sound, we recall not colours but tones, and hence, for our brain, all memories (and so pictures) are in countless shades of black and white. Photography is, in its way, memory materialised. And so we can ponder on whether we are offering the city our memories and our recollections or whether it is the other way round. It depends on the person, depends on the city, on what one has got and what one wants to give. In the case of Luka Mjeda and Zagreb this is a happy and harmonious relationship, interwoven with numberless invisible emotional threads, sensibility, intuition and irrefutable knowledge about the spirit of the city, its history and its present.
